Public initiative networks via optical fiber

SPLANG, as a key player in the digital development of Guyana, implements Public Initiative Networks (PIN), in particular through the deployment of optical fiber. These projects aim to provide reliable and fast high-speed Internet access, particularly in the most remote and underserved areas of Guyana.

Objectives of the SPLANG Optical Fiber Network

The main objective of this network is to reduce the digital divide in Guyana by providing equitable and quality coverage throughout the territory. This allows residents, businesses and public institutions to access essential digital services, while promoting the economic and social development of the region.

A Network for All Territories

The deployment of optical fiber by SPLANG is not limited to large cities or densely populated areas. Thanks to this project, rural communities and isolated areas also benefit from access to modern and efficient infrastructure, which is crucial for equal opportunities, education, and digital inclusion.

A Public-Private Partnership for Project Acceleration

To deploy these infrastructures, SPLANG relies on a public-private partnership model, in collaboration with operators and specialized companies. This model makes it possible to maximize resources and accelerate the implementation of infrastructure while guaranteeing access to digital services for all in the long term.

The Benefits of Optical Fiber for Guyana

– Very High Speed: Thanks to optical fiber, users benefit from a stable and high speed, allowing smooth navigation, fast downloads, and better access to streaming, teleworking, and tele-education services.

– Universal Accessibility: Optical fiber provides increasingly wider coverage, including the most remote areas of Guyana.

– Economic Development: Access to efficient Internet opens opportunities for local businesses, attracts new businesses, and promotes innovation in all sectors.

– Reduction of the Digital Divide: The project aims to give each citizen the opportunity to participate in the digital economy, to access public services online, and to benefit from the advantages of digital technology.

The Long-Term Project

This deployment is part of a long-term initiative to modernize Guyana’s digital infrastructure so that it can meet future connectivity needs. The project continues to expand with regular installations in new areas, both on the coast and in the interior.
